This Recipe Is The Perfect Start To Every Day
I know, I know the go-to is always coffee. Coffee to get you going, get you *ahem* "moving", give you the juice you need to do your day. Except...it also gives you the jitters. The diuretic effect doesn't allow your body to run its natural course. You crash and need more and, well, it's a neurotoxin...yuck.
Enter Hot Ginger and Lemon.
12oz hot water
1 inch piece of fresh ginger, grated
juice of 1/2 a lemon
Why drink Hot Water with lemon and ginger to start your day?
ginger contains gingerol, a bioactive compound that has powerful anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects.
it helps with nausea and stomach upset, revives and repairs muscles, lessening aches and pains, improves mental sharpness and kicks the metabolism into gear.
lemons pack an antioxidant, vitamin and mineral punch. they're sources of vitamin C, vitamin B6, vitamin A, vitamin E, folate, niacin, thiamin, riboflavin, pantothenic acid, copper, calcium, iron, magnesium, potassium, zinc and phosphorus. these help with decreasing inflammation, improving digestion, liver and kidney function by instigating a good flush.
Though caffeine may have a diuretic effect and give you that wake up boost you're seeking in the morning, it's merely a band-aid and quickly causes dependency. It may be tough getting off this morning jolt. It is worth it. The same energizing effect can be obtained from ginger and lemon, without the negatives.
Try it out. You don't have to give up coffee, but wouldn't it be nice to not have to have it?
